Mt. Lyford Ski Area

Season: Mid June to Late September.Location: 26km from Waiau 60km from Hanmer Spring 146km from Christchurch 60km from Kaikoura. The access road turns off Highway 70 about 26km’s after Waiau. From the Mt Lyford Lodge it is a 8km long well maintained gravel road which passes through native Beach Forest and into alpine terrain. It passes through the lower of the two areas at Mount Lyford, Lake Stella the original ski area, from here it is a easy drive to the Mt Terako Basin, this is where you will find the Ski Area.

The sunny Terako ski area, an ideal family field, offers a great learners area as well as challenging runs for intermediate and advanced skiers. The Terako Day Lodge/restaurant and car park is centrally located.
