New Zealand’s best-kept secret is an unspoiled playground where you can indulge in a unique backcountry snow experience much like heli-skiing yet more relaxed and social. Soho welcomes skiers and snowboarders to a unique backcountry snow experience that includes snowcat access to 1000+ acres and an unparalleled alpine food and wine experience.

FACILITIES

Skip the chairlift queue and enjoy our state-of-the-art snow cats with specially-designed heated passenger cabins. Take in breathtaking vistas all the way from Fiordland to the West Coast, and Wanaka to Queenstown. Feel like you have the mountain all to yourself.

High in the magical Cardrona Valley, Soho’s pristine natural landscape is a 60 minute drive from Queenstown, 40 minutes from Wanaka or a 10 minute flight via our affiliated helicopter service.

MORE DETAILS

* Soho basin is an excellent location for skiing, however we have no control over the weather or snow conditions, which can change without notice. Weather conditions can restrict or delay access to the ski area.

* The enjoyment and safety of all our guests is paramount. We may close off certain areas within Soho Basin if there are slope stability or other safety issues.

* Bring your normal skiing or riding wear. Remember, warm layered clothing is recommended along with hats, goggles/sunglasses and gloves. We also recommend our guests wear helmets. Fat skis are recommended for skiers (98-104 underfoot).

* The Soho Basin ski area is located on Crown estate which is leased to Soho Property Limited. In turn, Soho Ski Area Limited (“SSAL”) holds a Crown Recreation Permit over the Soho ski area. SSAL is responsible for guests and invitees to the area.

* SSAL does not wish to exclude public access to the Soho ski area at this time. However, any members of the public accessing Soho ski area must assume full responsibility and liability for their presence, and for any consequential outcomes that may arise as a result of such presence in the area. Therefore, all parties who wish to access Soho ski area must:

* Complete a registration and assumption of risk and liability form and return to us. Please note we require one registration form per person per season. This can be downloaded here.

* Recognise that SSAL’s use of the area holds priority over members of the general public and act accordingly (do not poach lines, do not stop or congregate at the snowcat pick-up points, follow safe backcountry travel practices).

* Never travel alone, be prepared and carry appropriate equipment such as an avalanche beacon, probe and shovel.

* We trust that the touring community, individually and collectively, will observe these rules in order to preserve the public access to Soho ski area.

THE RIDING

Soho Basin’s riding experience is paired with an equally incredible food and wine experience in collaboration with Amisfield.

Lunch showcases the very best of Central Otago, executed by the award-winning Amisfield Restaurant team. This is paired with Amisfield wine and a range of delicious beverages. After your last runs, a final après ski BBQ will be served to close out the day.

If you’d like to continue into the evening, we have the option to book for a Private Dining experience at the Amisfield Restaurant at Lake Hayes.

THE DINING

Soho Basin’s riding experience is paired with an equally incredible food and wine experience in collaboration with Amisfield.

Lunch showcases the very best of Central Otago, executed by the award-winning Amisfield Restaurant team. This is paired with Amisfield wine and a range of delicious beverages. After your last runs, a final après ski BBQ will be served to close out the day.

If you’d like to continue into the evening, we have the option to book for a Private Dining experience at the Amisfield Restaurant at Lake Hayes.
