WINTER 2020 IS ON!

Are you ready for the NZ winter?

The NZ ski fields have been working together with the government to determine what winter 2020 looks like under Covid-19 restrictions. Here is an update from some of them.

What to Expect From Winter 2020

As with everyone else our operations will look a little different this year to make sure we keep our visitors and staff safe. We will keep you informed with more details closer to the season, but a few things you can expect to see at level 2:

  • Physical distancing across the ski areas including queues, transport and in cafes.
  • Increased and enhanced cleaning protocols, especially in high traffic areas.
  • Food & Beverage outlets following Ministry of Health guidelines for level 2 operations.
  • Contact tracing will be a requirement

Coronet Peak Opens Friday 26 June

  • Open 7 days a week
  • First Tracks from 8-9am daily from 6 July – 13 September
  • Night Ski on Wednesday & Friday nights from 1 July – 28 August
  • Scheduled Closing Date is Sunday 27 September

The Remarkables Opens Saturday 4 July

  • Open daily during July school holidays, 4 – 19 July
  • Then open Saturday & Sunday, with potential for extra days to be added during the season
  • New Sugar Bowl Chairlift on track for early July opening
  • Scheduled Closing Date is Sunday 27 September

Mt Hutt Opens Friday 12 June

  • NEW Mid-Week Season Pass available
  • Open 3 days per week at first
  • From 1 July, open the best 5 weather days each week and will include the weekend
  • Weekend First Tracks from 8-9am starting 4 July
  • Scheduled Closing Date is Sunday 11 October

Mt Ruapehu Opens Sightseeing Only Sat 30th May
(over Queen’s Birthday weekend)
Ski Fields Opens – To Be Confirmed

Mt Ruapehu will confirm their NEW planned opening dates as soon as they can, some of this will be dependent on snowfall as usual. Keep an eye on their website and social media channels.

Cardrona Opens Friday 26 June

  • Planning to open McDougall’s, Whitestar and Captain’s
  • Scheduled Closing Date is October 18

  • Planning to open Home Basin and the Saddle
  • Scheduled Closing Date is September 6 (Father’s Day)
